On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev received a business delegation from German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations led by Chairman Wolfgang Büchele.
Main focus of discussions were the development of the Underground system in Baku and modernisation of the railway infrastructure, investment opportunities in the construction industry as well as cooperation in the financial sector and agricultural projects of Azerbaijan. The participants highlighted that the German economy can contribute to the diversification of the Azerbaijani economy by offering its expertise in consulting services and machinery and equipment industry.
The delegation consisting of 26 people included senior representatives of prominent German companies such as Uniper Global Commodities SE, Deutsche Bahn AG, Deutsche Bank AG, Airbus Group International and Rödl & Partner as well as the Chairman of the Board of the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan), Mr. Falko Heidrich and Executive Director of AHK Azerbaijan, Mr. Tobias Baumann.
Further talks were held with the Minister of Economy Mr. Shahin Mustafayev, the Minister of Energy Mr. Parviz Shahbazov and the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Mr. Ramin Guluzade. In addition, the delegation paid a visit to the Silk Way Airlines at International Baku Airport and International Sea Trade Port.
